Become A Member

Irrespective of the type of membership, the following benefits are for all categories.

• Participate in all DOS socio-cultural events

• Be part of the event management and other committees to directly influence the vision, mission and purpose of DOS

• Be a voice for change, by providing feedback and suggestions to Board

• Attend the annual membership meetings

 DOS got two categories of membership:

● Subscribed membership – Subscribed members are eligible to be part of the DOS WhatsApp group, DOS subscribed email group and DOS Facebook page, once their membership request is approved. If you are not yet a member, please fill out the form that is under  our Contact Us menu. We provide this option to you to know us well before you think of upgrading to a Paid Membership option. 

Subscribed membership will not have voting rights and will not count towards quorum and/or voting requirements of this bylaw.

● Paid membership – paid members are given certain rights that the subscribed members don't have. Those special rights are as under.

• They can vote in elections to choose board of directors

• They are invited to General Body Meetings or Special Meetings and can have a say on DOS matters.

• They can be part of various committees.

• They will be part of a special mailing list

There are currently two categories of  paid membership with terms defined as follows:

a) Annual membership (up to 2 members over 21 years of age per family) - $11

b) 5 Years membership (up to 2 members over 21 years of age per family) - $49

Each paid membership will be counted towards the quorum and/or voting requirements of this Bylaw. 

For example – if a family has paid an annual membership of $11 and two members of the family are registered with unique email addresses under DOS Non-Profit e-mail group, they will be counted as 2 members towards the membership quorum and/or voting requirements of this ByLaw.

 You are advised to upgrade your membership to Paid Member as soon as possible, after you and your family made a Subscribed Member. Please note that the DOS Board could take decisions to change add, modify or remove type of memberships and its price options. 

You are recommended to join as a Paid Member as the cost of membership is kept very reasonable and the organization being non-profit needs support of members like you. 

You may request to apply membership of the DOS Facebook Group by Clicking the Facebook Button provided at end of this page along with your Name , Location and Phone information, after which you will be made a Subscribed Member and subsequently added to various WhatsApp Groups. Then you can apply for Paid Membership. The Treasurer may do additional verification before you were accepted as a Paid Member. We have a policy of "Know Your Member" to remain compliant with law and also intend to provide a safer environment for our friends and families. So, please cooperate and share your address and phone number and family member details along with your name and e-mail id when you apply for Subscribed Membership. This is for our own safety.
